Amaechi Muonagor is a popular Nollywood actor, director, producer, entrepreneur, businessman and television personality. He was born on August 20, 1962 in Idemili Local Government Area, Anambra State, south-eastern Nigeria. He is currently 55 years old. Amaechi Muonagor is originally from Obosi, a small village in Idemili Governorate in Anambra State in southeastern Nigeria.

He attended St. Mary’s Primary School in Obosi, Idemili Governorate, Anambra State, Nigeria and received his first school leaving certificate. After completing his primary education, Amaechi Muonagor attended Oraifite Grammar School in Anambra State, Nigeria, and received his West African Senior School Certificate.

After completing his primary and secondary education, Amaechi Muonagor went to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria, graduating in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Amaechi Muonagor is currently married with four beautiful children.

In 1998, Amaechi Muonagor entered Nigerian film industry (Nollywood) and starred in his first film “Taboo” in which he played the role of chief Akunatakasi. In 1999, Amaechi Muonagor rose to fame after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster Igodo, one of the biggest films Nollywood has ever produced in history. The film Igodo earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.

After his year-long compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 1989, Amaechi Muonagor started as a reporter for the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). A few years later, he quit his job at the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) to pursue an acting career.

In 2003, Amaechi Muonagor starred in a Nollywood blockbuster comedy Aki na Ukwa along with Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme. The film was hugely popular in Nigeria and earned him a nomination for Best Comedy Actor at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.


Amaechi Muonagor is a versatile actor and fits into any film role that film directors give him. He is currently one of the most gifted, creative, skillful and talented actors in Nigeria. He always plays the role of a mean and evil person.

Amaechi Muonagor has starred in more than 250 Nollywood films including Igodo, His Last Action, Sincerity, Without Goodbye, Evil World, Ugonma, Aki na Ukwa, Most Wanted Kidnappers, Jack and Jill, Atinga, Village Rascal, Code of Silence, Spirits, The Guilty One, Ms. Rapa, etc.

Amaechi Muonagor has won several awards for his acting career including Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards, Best Actor in Comedy at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, Most Prominent Actor in Nigeria at the Best of Nollywood Awards and Best Actor in a Leading Role at the City People Entertainment Awards.

In 2016 he was nominated for Best Comedy Actor at the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards. In 2017 he won the award for Best Comedy Actor at the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards. Amaechi Muonagor is currently one of the richest and most influential actors in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $850,000.

In 2016, there were numerous postings on websites and social media claiming that Amaechi Muonagor was very ill, suffering from diabetes and was struck down. During this period there were also rumors that he was leaving the film industry. But during an interview with the media, Amaechi Muonagor debunked all the rumors and confirmed that he is very healthy.
