Job Purpose

  • Lead business development activity within the Company’s Smart City and Smart Lighting proposition
  • Support the UK sales team in identifying and converting new projects to achieve revenue targets.
  • Secure product specification and approvals with Lucy Zodion customers and stakeholders within the Smart City and Smart Lighting landscape.
  • Be the Company’s Smart City and Smart Lighting lead ensuring a high degree of professional representation in the market.
  • Champion Smart City and Smart Light customers and stakeholders with Lucy Zodion always delivering high levels of customer service.

Job Context

  • The role holder will be a key member of the sales team with responsibility for the sales development and growth of the Ki. product line and will have overall responsibility to deliver the agreed business development plan.
  • The role is supported by Area Sales Managers in identifying new opportunities and managing customer engagement activity.
  • The role is supported by the Customer Services Department (quotes and enquiries) and the Commercial Manager on bids and tenders, and the Product Management and Marketing department.
  • The role will feed market and product specification information back into the Engineering and Product Management teams for new product developments, system deployment and ongoing system management.
  • The role will also interface with other Group companies within the Smart City and Smart Lighting landscape.

Job Dimensions

  • The role reports into Lucy Zodion’s Head of Sales.
  • Primary market focus is the UK & Ireland requiring visits to customers and exhibitions
  • The role will indirectly manage the Project Service Engineers
  • The role is home based.
  • Occasional travel to the Lucy Zodion office in Sowerby Bridge will be required.
  • Infrequent International travel may be required to meet with customers, partners, Group offices.

Key Accountabilities

These will include:

  • Develop new business opportunities in the Smart City and Smart Lighting marketplace alongside the company’s Regional and National Salesforce
  • Manage the new businessSmart’ pipeline to support the business in achieving its revenue objectives.
  • Act as Lucy Zodion’s lead representative for Smart City and Smart Lighting both internally and in the wider industry marketplace
  • Employ a consultative approach in assessing clients’ needs and developing an understanding of the challenges faced by their business.
  • Secure product specification and approvals within UK Local Authorities and Highways and other smart city stakeholders.
  • Assist with the preparation and submission of quotations/proposals, network designs and tenders.
  • Assimilate views and information on specific markets and customer requirements, and input into product development roadmaps, within Lucy Zodion and other Group Companies.
  • Provide input and support to marketing and product management as and when required for role related materials, events, and exhibitions.
  • Liaise with the commercial team ensuring tenders are identified and tracked, ensuring the Company’s CRM system is updated and maintained to a good standard.
  • Act as the ‘Ki.’ brand champion across customer engagements, exhibitions, and events
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, self-motivation, and independence, to ensure successful business outcomes.
  • Participate in regular Performance Excellence discussions as part of the Group HR program.
  • Implement special projects from time to time as requested by the Head of Sales

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Smart Street Lighting, or Smart Lighting Solutions.
  • Technical qualification in electrical/mechanical engineering preferably to HND/HNC level would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience working with specifiers to secure product approvals and specifications.
  • Good negotiation and business development skills.
  • Good presentation & communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft suite and CRM.
  • High level of English (spoken and written).
