Rev. Father Ejike Camillus Anthony Ebenezer Mbaka, popularly known as Father Mbaka, is a Catholic minister, gospel musician, Father of the Holy Spirit, and Founder and Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministries Enugu, Nigeria. He is considered one of the most prominent religious leaders in south-eastern Nigeria.
Father Mbaka is an outspoken Nigerian Catholic priest, he is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu. He founded Adoration Ministries in Enugu, Nigeria and serves as the Spiritual Director. He is known for his opinions on political matters in Enugu State and Nigeria as a whole.
P. Mbaka was born on 28 July 1957 in Amata Ituku, Awgu Municipality, Enugu State, south-eastern Nigeria to the late Chief Humphrey Ogbuefi Mbaka and wife Felicia Mbaka. He is currently 64 years old. His family were palm wine tappers.
Father Mbaka attended St. Vincent De Paul Agbogugu Secondary School in Awgu Township, Enugu State and received his secondary school certificate. He then went to the Seat of Wisdom Seminary in Owerri, Imo State. He then went to St. Joseph Seminary Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State, where he was trained for the priesthood. On July 29, 1995 he was ordained a priest of the Roman Catholic Church in the Order of Melchizedek.
Fr. As a teenager, Mbaka organized block rosary prayers in his neighborhood. He was also part of the active prayer warrior team now known as Catholic Charismatic Renewal at St. Anthony’s Parish in Ituku. Father Mbaka’s dream of becoming a Catholic priest met with fierce opposition from his pagan father. The idea of becoming a priest was rejected by his father and relatives. However, on July 29, 1995, His Lordship Bishop Michael Ugwujah Eneja ordained Father Mbaka as a Catholic priest at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Enugu.
Father Mbaka was seconded to the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Enugu as Assistant Diocesan Administrator after his ordination. Father Mbaka used his time as an assistant to the diocesan administration to start evangelistic missions outside the cathedral. He frequently went to Capuchin and GTC Enugu to celebrate masses for the community. He then founded the Eucharistic Jesus Word Prayer Center which eventually became Adoration Ministries Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN).
He has served as pastor in many parishes in Enugu Diocese, including Christ the Kings Parish in GRA and Our Lady of Roses Parish in Emene. Thousands of devotees flock to Adoration Ministries Enugu Nigeria weekly for prayer.
In 2001, Father Mbaka blamed Enugu State Governor Chimaroke Nnamani for the stampede that killed ten believers and an unborn child. Father Mbaka has criticized several Nigerian political leaders such as the late General Sani Abacha, Chimaroke Nnamani, Ikedi Ohakim, Rochas Okorocha, Goodluck Jonathan, Muhammadu Buhari, Emeka Ihedioha, Peter Obi and others.
On December 31, 2014, Father Mbaka told a congregation that the then President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said she had failed to stem the tide of insecurity and corruption in the country and urged her to vote out the government. Fr. Mbaka’s call for a change in administration is consistent with his priestly prophetic ministry. He then urged his congregation to vote for Muhammadu Buhari, saying he is the chosen one and the messiah who will save Nigeria and lead the country to the promised land.
Fr. Since Mbaka was ordained as a Roman Catholic priest, he has consistently guided, advised and warned every administration in Nigeria. He predicted that Hope Uzodimma would be elected Governor of Imo State ahead of court rulings in 2020. After the country’s security problems, Father Mbaka called for President Buhari’s resignation. Garba Shehu claimed in a statement in April 2021 that Father Mbaka visited Buhari for a contract as compensation for his support in the 2015 general election, but the President turned it down and that is why Father Mbaka is now opposed to Muhammadu Buhari.
On April 28, 2021, Father Mbaka called on President Muhammadu Buhari to step down from his post due to increasing insecurity in Nigeria. In response to Father Mbaka’s call, the Nigerian Presidency released a statement by President Muhammadu Buhari’s senior special adviser for media and public relations, Garba Shehu, that Father Mbaka was allegedly angry because President Muhammadu Buhari ignored his request for contracts after asking for Contracts had asked for compensation for his support in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections.
The Ohaneze Youth Council reported Father Mbaka missing in May 2021. Father Mbaka was last seen on Tuesday, according to Ohaneze Youth Council President-General Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, who said all efforts to locate him had failed.

This caused much controversy in Nigeria as many Nigerians lashed out at the Catholic cleric. This incident drew attention to the Catholic Bishop of Enugu, who suspended his worship service and asked Catholic members not to attend his worship service. Father Mbaka later apologized to Mr. Peter Obi for his comments.
